ys of light and hope savoured the Nigerian Delegation of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary on the 8th of November, 2023 at the Seminary Chapel in Ibadan, as she marked the First Religious Profession of Vows of Four Brothers: EHARE Alexius, OMV, IJIGA Johnson, OMV, NWOKOYE Emmanuel, OMV and OGECHUKWU Michael, OMV. The colourful event also saw six temporary professed brothers had the renewal of their vows according to the Constitutions and Norms of the Congregation of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (OMV). The Profession ceremony was graced by the presence of some OMV Priests, friends and well-wishers of the Congregation.
The Solemn Mass was presided over by the Delegate of the Rector Major, Very Rev. Fr Cyril Odey, OMV, accompanied by the Vicar of the Delegation, Very Rev. Fr Oviemuno I. Obi, OMV. Others in attendance were the Novice Master of the Delegation, Rev. Fr Jeremiah Irabor, OMV, the Vice Rector of the Seminary, Rev. Fr Gabriel Adanu, OMV and the Pastor of St. Antony's Parish, Asipa, Ibadan, Rev. Fr Kelvin Nwune, OMV.
In his homily, the Vicar of the Delegation, Rev. Fr Oviemuno recalled the Gospel values and beauty of the Vows of Evangelical Counsels, urging the brothers undertaking the Vows to be prayerful, committed and focused on Christ, the Master and Source of all vocations. The Solemn Mass ended with a vote of thanks by the Vice Rector of the Seminary, Rev. Fr Gabriel Adanu, OMV after which snapshots were taken by all present and items of refreshments shared in commemoration of the memorable day.
