The first plenary meeting of the Association of the Diocesan/Religious Directors of Social Communications of the Catholic Church in Nigeria held on Monday March 5th to Wednesday 7th, 2018 at the Eziafakaego Garden, Onitsha, Anambra State began with the message of hope and assurance from His Grace, Most Rev. Dr Valerian Okeke, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha. At the opening Mass presided over by the Archbishop, the Directors of communications in Nigeria renewed their hope in God through the exhortation of the Archbishop. According to the Archbishop, the gospel of Christ is our hope and when it is effectively carried out, our hope will be strengthened. He further stated that due to the frailty of humanity, all hope is pictured to be lost. But we have hope that God is giving us the wonderful assurance that all hope is not lost. Referring to the gospel of the day according to Matthew (18:21-35), Archbishop Okeke quoted "So my heaven Father will do to you if you do not forgive from your heart". But if we forgive others , as stated by the Archbishop, we shall have the assurance that God will forgive us also.
Before concluding his homily, the Archbishop encouraged all Communicators and those present at the Mass to always hope in God with the assurance that God will always be there for them.
The plenary meeting recorded high level of attendance be the Directors of Communications from most of the Dioceses and Religious Congregations in the Nigeria.
