The Auxiliary bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese and the Episcopal Chairman of Communications in Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr Denis Chidi Isizoh at the First Plenary meeting of the Directors of Communications at Onitsha with the theme: "The Truth will Set you Free: Fake news and Journalism for Peace", said, "fake news is very difficult to control because of the new media, news people now have access to various information." He made this remark at the just concluded plenary meeting of the Directors of Communications. He stated clearly that one could only talk about truth and journalism of peace only when he/she is in control of the news. How do we control the news coming to us? He asked. He was of the opinion that, if we, as communicators, keep quiet for the news that have happened before reporting, then people will help us to fill the vacuum. So, it is very important to fill the vacuum by reporting the news as soon as possible as it happened. As the events are unfolding the Communicator ought to communicate it as fast as possible. Bishop Isizoh reminded all communicators that their job is simply to form and inform. In other words, the job of the communicator is to form conscience and let people know about what is happening in the Church and the Society.
