​The seminary community of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in Ibadan celebrated the birthday of the founder of the Congregation, venerable Fr Pius Bruno Lanteri, on the 18th of May 2017. Fr Lanteri was born on the 12th of May, but the Seminary in order to celebrate him in a special way moved the celebration to the 18th of May this year. The celebration began at about 5:30 pm with the vespers. This was immediately followed with a talk on the Person of Fr Lanteri by Br Gabriel Adanu OMV. According to him, Fr Lanteri died many years ago but lives on in the hearts of many because he lived a virtuous life while on Earth. This is what makes his birthday worth celebrating for all time. Other brothers recounted some wonderful lessons learnt from the personality of Fr Lanteri. The celebration was not devoid of socials. Of particular interest was the presentation of the seminary drama group which lighted the mood. The Rector of the Seminary, Fr Victor Nwabueze, OMV, in his closing remark noted that as Sons of Father Lanteri, all Oblates need to learn to live on the great virtues of Fr Lanteri. The celebration came to an end at about 8:30 pm with a closing prayer led by Fr Chukwunonso E. Onyemeh OMV.
