The Nigeria Delegation of the Congregation of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary had a remarkable moment on Saturday, the 30th of September, 2017, at the Chapel of the Pastoral Institutes, Bodija - Ibadan as two of her brothers made their final Religious Profession. The celebration which started with the Holy Mass at about 10:35am had Very Rev. Fr John Idio, OMV, the Delegate Superior as the Chief Celebrant. Upon the presentation of the candidates by the Prefect of Spirit, Very Rev Fr Victor Nwabueze, OMV, the Delegate formally elected them for the Profession. In his homily, Fr John stated that the Religious Life is not an honour someone takes upon himself but a call from God. Speaking further, Fr John said that the Religious Life is all about the life of sharing, sacrifice and service. Before concluding his homily, the Delegate encouraged the candidates to be true Religious after God's heart. The Holy Mass had in attendance the Delegate Superior and majority of the OMV priests, about 15 priests, 20 religious sisters, seminarians and over 300 lay faithful including the Associates of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (AOMV). The OMV priests present at the occasion were all in high spirit as this year’s final profession is seen as the first of its kind to record in attendance majority of OMV priests in Religious profession in Nigeria. It was clear from the OMV priests in Nigeria that the goodwill shown thus far by them will help to move the Nigeria Delegation forward. The brothers who made their Final Profession were Daniel Damisah, OMV and George Erumeste, OMV. The reception and entertainment of guests followed immediately after the Mass and all those present had enough to eat and drink.
Rev. Fr Oviemuno I. Obi, OMV
