Words are not enough to express the excitement of the Delegate Superior, Very Rev. Fr Paul Etafo Ubebe, OMV in the presence of the confreres and Christ faithful as three of the members of the Delegation made their Perpetual Profession of vows on the 27th of September, 2019, at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Useh, Benin City, Nigeria.
The ceremony which was slated for 5:00pm couldn't begin as scheduled but later began at about 5:27pm for logistical reasons.
In his homily which was centered on the state of the delegation and the nature of the religious life, the Delegate superior began by giving a brief history of the Congregation and the Delegation in particular. Speaking on the activity of the day, Fr Paul stated that by the virtue of the final religious profession, the candidates are to promote the activities of the delegation and congregation in general. He admonished them to always avail themselves to the mission of the OMV but not to choose where to be assigned to. He further said that every religious should have an open mind to work wherever he is sent to; that availability is a necessity for them to be effective servants of God. He concluded his homily by explaining in detail to the candidates and all present the nature of the religious vows and how they are to be carried out or observed by the candidates including all religious.
Those who made their Final Profession of vows in the hands of the Delegate Superior were: Brs Ikenna Kelvin Nwune, OMV, Gabriel Adanu Jonah, OMV and Luka Joshua Kaje, OMV. About 300 persons including priests and religious together with lay faithful attended the celebration. At the end of the ceremony there was entertainment of guests as the candidates expressed their gratitude to God and to the congregation in general.
